Musical Goals and Objectives
The top priority is that students enjoy the process of learning how to read music, play music on an instrument and interact musically in an ensemble. This priority is strengthened when the music and instruction is challenging and of high quality.
The following is a list of fundamental music goals that we are striving to master as we go through the process of learning music as it applies to instrumental performance.
Posture, embouchure, breathing, tone, balance, blend, attack, sustain, release.
Rhythms, rhythmic accuracy, time signatures.
Notation, note accuracy, key signatures.
Precision, tempo, inner pulse.
Articulation, dynamics, phrasing
Various musical styles from a variety of cultures.
